Our customer is the industry’s only company exclusively focused on Java and the Java Virtual Machine (JVM) and widely known for its JVMs solutions, is looking for a Team Lead or Software Engineering Manager with experience in Java domain and JVM/system software engineering, to lead a small team of talented developers in the Novosibirsk office. Key responsibilities:

• Leading projects to completion in tight time frames, delivering on commitments for release schedule.
• Architecting new features, integrating ideas of team members and taking responsibility for final high level design decisions.
• Defining tasks for engineers, balancing project and organizational goals with individual skills and professional growth directions.
• Defining and maintaining efficient development processes in the team
• Tracking trends and events in the Java industry (particularly in J2SE: Java versions, JEPs, etc.) and participating in technical roadmap definition for the product.
• Inspiring and motivating the team.
• Occasional hands-on individual software development contribution.

Requirements:

• BS in Computer Science or equivalent, at least 6 years of relevant work experience
• Experience in leading software development teams
• Strong proficiency in C/C++
• Solid knowledge of Java
• Understanding of the design of JVM. Knowledge of OpenJDK internals will be a plus.
• Experience in system programming, knowledge of Linux internals will be a plus.
• Good understanding of basic Computer Science concepts (data structures and algorithms)
• Good planning and project management skills
• Strong English, both written and oral, ability to efficiently participate in global teleconferences.
• Fast learning and problem solving capabilities.
• Creativity in both technical and organizational areas
• Good team player, effective in collaboration in a global international team
